FAREDROP REVIEW

(how we get up to 80% off flights)

“How do you find such cheap flights?”

We get asked this nonstop. AND… up until now, it was sort of a painful process! Long hours spent on google flights, watching skyscanner, checking Scott’s cheap flights, double checking momonodo (did I spell that right??), rubbing the magic troll’s hair and praying that the flight gods release some good deals before we turn grey. Or something like that.

BUT! Those days are gone… well not necessarily gone… but things definitely have just gotten a lot easier!

ENTER FARE DROP. And commence this review of Faredrop. How much does Faredrop cost? Is it worth it? Let’s find out!

“We booked round trip flights to Paris for only $219. This was a mistake fare, and the only way were were able to get it in time was because Faredrop notified us”

Just so you know… We were definitely not paid to write this review. We spent our own hard-earned $$$ on Faredrop and are just giddy to share our experience. Why? Well because we couldn’t find any Faredrop reviews anywhere, so we decided to write our own!  And because Faredop has saved us a TON of money, so we wanted to spread the love!

Don’t like to read reviews? Cool. Check out FareDrop HERE.

So what is Faredrop and why do I care?

Faredrop was created by one of our favorite travel youtube channel. If you haven’t heard of Kara and Nate, check out their youtube channel.

Kara and Nate have been traveling for 4 years now, full-time, and have been inspiring others to travel along the way. They wanted to help people overcome one of the largest hurdles to trael… EXPENSIVE AIRPLANE TICKETS. So they created Faredrop! Pretty cool huh?

So FareDrop is a Flight Notification Service  that notifies you when a good deal comes around. These deals could be:

  • mistake fares (the best)
  • heavily discounted deals
  • or seasonal airline discounts

The KEY here is that these deals DON’T LAST LONG… so Faredrop notifies you via text or email when they come around!

So how do I get in on this action?
Step one:

Here’s what that process looks like:

Step two: Set your outbound airport!

PRO TIP: set a couple different airports nearby. There could be a crazy good deal that pops up at an airport a couple hours away, might be worth the drive! Plus its fun to see the extra deals that show up in your inbox!

Step three: Decide WHERE you want to go!

PRO TIP: some destinations have more deals than others. For example, its a lot more common to flind flight deals to Europe than it is to find to South America. Remember, Faredrop doesn’t create the deals, just shows you what is out there!

Step four: Decide WHEN you want to go!

PRO TIP: Most flight deals tend come be from October through early May… and least in our experience. I like to check every box just so I don’t miss out on anything!

Step five: Set your budget!

PRO TIP: Honestly I just leave this section alone. Faredrop does a good just reviewing all flight options and only sending you the good deals. I haven’t set any restrictions here and I’m happy with what it sends us.

Step six: Set your Deal Preferences

You can now setup your deal preferences to show you only economy flights, only business class flights, or all of the above!

PRO TIP: Faredrop is super unique in that in allows for text message notifications. This is especially helpful for mistake fare deals, as those sometimes dissapear within an hour or so. However, I personally have my notifications set to email only, as I cast a wide net with my flight deals, so I tend to get a lot of deals coming in.

Faredrop now has its own app! So you can setup app notifications as well!

Step 7: Set your notification preferences!

So how much does Faredrop cost?

Ahhhh… the magic question… drum roll please!

FareDrop now has 3 different plans:
Domestic Plan – Domestic Deals Only – Free
Global Plan – Domestic & International Deals – $49 annually
Global Pro Plan – Domestic, International & International Business Class Deals – $99 annually

So is it worth it?

Seriously? Did you not read any of this review? YES. Yes it is worth it. The very first deal you find you will pay for YEARS of the service. Let alone no longer having to waste HOURS of your life scanning the web looking for a good deal.

Here are a couple of the flights we have been able to book through Faredrop:
  • Round trip flights to Paris for $219 (Normally $900+)
  • Round trip flights to Barcelona for $235 (normally $950+)
  • Round trip flights to Lisbon for $395 (normally $950+)

SOoooo… IN CONCLUSION… if you enjoy scouring the web for flight deals, or constantly checking google flights… then this isn’t for you. But whether you are a pro traveler or just looking to save a boat load of money on your next vacay… definitely check out Faredrop.
