7 Days in Paradise | Siargao Philippines

If you have never heard of Siargao, Philippines our guess is that it wont be long before you are hearing about it everywhere! It is the next up and coming ultimate travel destination. There is something really special about Siargao. It has such a cool surfer vibe and is filed with cool shops and great food! It is the surfing capital of the Philippines but you don’t have to be a surfer to enjoy this beautiful island.

Bradey and Alexa did take a surfing lesson while we were there and they had a blast! No surprise that Alexa was a natural and caught almost every wave that came her way.

Our favorite thing to do in Siargao was to rent out a boat for the day and visit an island or two. The standard tour is for three different islands but we have learned that in order to make family travel enjoyable you can’t push it too hard. The first day we set out on a boat tour we made it to two of the three islands. The girls enjoyed playing in the sand and splashing around in the clear water.

The next day we had quite the adventure when we realized that the only ATM nearby was out of order! We had just twelve US dollars worth of cash left. We had to make it last all day and hope the ATM would come back on. It is not too hard to live on a budget in Siargao because it is such an affordable place to visit but not knowing when we would get more cash was a little scary. We found some cheap food and spent the day at a little beach we found off the road. It was quiet and the girls got to learn how to snorkel! They even saw a jelly fish! We decided to take a long drive in hopes of finding another ATM and luckily we were successful! We got some more cash and ended up having dinner at our favorite place where the girls were able to play with some of the local children.

On our next boat day we explored the third and most beautiful island! This little island was a dream! There was a lot of white sand to play in and there was a very large area of shallow water with very little waves for the girls to play in. It was perfect. There were hammocks to lounge in and even some large swings to play on. We arrived early in the morning to try and avoid the crowds and for the first hour we had the island almost completely to ourselves. As the morning went on the boats kept coming so we headed back to eat some lunch and take it easy the rest of the day.

We also loved exploring the island on two wheels. Any time the girls started to get a little cranky we would head out on the scooter and take a beautiful ride around the island. Chloe would not last long before falling asleep in my arms, so this started to become our daily nap time routine. It was a very relaxing way for all of us to spend some quiet time enjoying this beautiful island.

We did a lot of research when we planned out our trip to the Philippines and there were quite a few recommendations to visit Siargao. Let’s just say it lived up to the hype. We absolutely love Siargao and it is now one of our favorite places in the world! We cant wait to be able to visit this beautiful island again and see more of what it has to offer.
